Exhibition Description – Macclesfield

This exhibition offers a heartfelt tribute from the Ukrainian community to the warm support and hospitality received in Macclesfield. The first section symbolically employs fabric prints featuring charming houses—each representing a Macclesfield home that has embraced us—interwoven with the traditional Ukrainian rushnyk, a motif that encapsulates our heritage and gratitude. As a textile designer, I wish to express my personal thanks to the Harrison family—Katy, James, and their children—whose generosity and friendship have enriched our lives over the past 2.5 years. Their open-hearted welcome and cultural sharing not only eased a challenging transition, but also forged lasting bonds that continue to support us.

In the second part of the exhibition, Michelle and I pay tribute to the late celebrated artist and textile designer, Edit Buxton. With a deep admiration for her enduring love of nature and flowers, we have created an evocative video presentation that captures the essence of her artistic spirit. Using a variety of aphoristic techniques, this section celebrates the natural beauty that continues to inspire both her work and our hearts.

Visitors are invited to explore a story of connection, resilience, and mutual respect—a journey that honours both personal gratitude and artistic legacy.
