Upcoming Exhibition in Macclesfield: A Cultural Tribute

Updated: Feb 16

I am excited to announce an upcoming exhibition in Macclesfield, where I, a Ukrainian designer and decorator, will collaborate with British artist Michelle Brown to create a unique art installation. This project is a heartfelt tribute to the people of Macclesfield for their kindness, hospitality, and support of the Ukrainian community.

The central installation symbolically blends textiles and floristry to represent the unity between our cultures. Fabric featuring prints of British homes will embody the welcoming spirit of Macclesfield, while a traditional Ukrainian Rushnyk will be incorporated, reflecting the resilience and gratitude of the Ukrainian people. This will be more than just an artistic display—it will be a powerful statement of connection, support, and shared history.

Michelle Brown will further enrich the exhibition by adding her artistic touch to the installation, using her signature contemporary painting techniques to transform the design into a dynamic art object. This collaboration is not only a celebration of creativity but also an exploration of cultural heritage, traditions, and historical moments that connect Ukraine and Britain.

In the second part of the exhibition, Michelle will express her artistry through painting in a tribute to Edith Buxton, one of the renowned textile designers at the historic Macclesfield Silk Mill. This tribute will honour her legacy, creativity, and love for nature, reflecting the rich history of textile craftsmanship in the region.

Stay tuned for more details, including an in-depth look at the Ukrainian rushnyk and its significance, which I will share in my next post!
